Marla Celeste

Hailing from the Mornington Peninsula and currently based in Lima, Perú, Marla Celeste is an Indian-Australian digital visual artist. Formally educated in Applied Linguistics, in recent years she has lived and worked in Australia, the United States, China, Bolivia and Perú. Her work explores themes of cultural identity, tradition and change under globalisation both in a universal sense and that of her own selfhood as a woman of mixed race. Self-trained since childhood in analogue photography, her body of work has grown to include mediums such as digital video, glitch art and installation, seeking to encounter harmony between technology and emotion.
Marla is a selected finalist for the Click 17 Photography Prize at Brunswick Street Gallery.
